The Big Bang Fair
A group of Year 9 girls had the opportunity to visit ‘Big Bang
on the Move’; a fantastic new event designed to open up
the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering and
mathematics) in the Logistics Industry as well as the wider
STEM landscape around Northamptonshire.
This was presented by The University of Northampton and
Aspire Northamptonshire, together with Learn By Design, and
took place at Franklin’s Gardens.
As well as being attended by a wide variety of STEM exhibitors
from the Northamptonshire area, the event ran workshops
and shows giving the girls a fully interactive STEM learning
experience.
“I really liked the big bang fair. I especially enjoyed
the workshops and talking to everyone about
their careers”
“I enjoyed the variety of activities such as making
bracelets from leather and holding meerkcats
and snakes”
RAF Fun With Flight
Educational Road show
Representatives from the RAF came in to the Academy to talk
to Year 9 science students about engineering careers within the
RAF and the science and technology behind flight.
There were many practical demonstrations, including a
drone flight, and students held their ears when there was a
demonstration of a simulator of two mini jet engines reaching
110 decibels.
