Mufti Day and Cake Sale
In November, Northampton Academy supported Children in Need by holding a whole school Mufti Day. All students and staff
arrived at school in their own clothes in exchange for a £1 donation. Students are always very excited to come to school without
their uniform, and they love to see the staff in their ‘normal clothes’. The school raised £982.94 from this event and a cake sale,
which was organised by the School Council.
Mr. Parnell’s Makeover
Student councillors persuaded Mr. Parnell, to allow them to spray his hair in rainbow colours.
The event took place in the assembly hall at break time, with students purchasing tickets for 20p to watch. All proceeds of this
event, along with a sweetie jar raffle the students organised, went to Northampton General Hospital Chemotherapy Ward.
A total of £230 was raised which is fantastic!
When asked how they came up with the idea, students said: “We wanted to raise some money for this charity, which is close to
our hearts, and we thought the colours would really suit Mr. Parnell.”
Before the event took place, Mr. Parnell was looking a bit worried, saying: “It’s not so much the hair spraying I’m worried about,
it’s the rest of the day. I have a number of important meetings later.”
