Travis Perkins
Creative Ambassador Team
Lorraine and Su from Travis Perkins have been working with
our Sixth Form Ambassadors, holding training workshops to
run a design and sustainability competition for Year 10 DT
students. Watch out for the display of the finished creations on
display in the Design and Technology area.
Travis Perkins 3D Workshop
Travis Perkins have been working with Year 12 and 13 new
drivers to understand road safety. A big red carpet was placed
around a truck to demonstrate blind spots.

Drone Workshop
Coca-Cola came in to
work with Sixth Formers
considering alternatives
to university.
Coca Cola and My Kinda
Future ran a workshop to
help students recognise the
skills needed when applying
for jobs or at interview. From
this, 5 students were chosen
to go forward for the Team
interviews and finally 1:1
interviews. We look forward
to hearing how they got on.
De Montfort University
“Don’t Blow the Budget”Workshop
An informative workshop was held by Kimberley Lloyd of
De Montfort University for Year 12 students giving them
valuable information and hands on practical exercises
on how to manage your finances after they have left the
Academy. Whether at university or in the workplace, this
workshop proved to be a valuable experience for students
on how to manage their finances wisely, determine the best
way to allocate their available money and make it stretch to
accommodate all their expenses.
Marketing Workshop
Students interested in careers in marketing took part in a
workshop with DMU to look at strategies to enhance people’s
knowledge of careers available in Humanities and Arts
subjects. This project has now been extended to other subjects
and the Sixth Form students look forward to working with
DMU again very soon.
Opus Energy
Social Footprint Workshop
Students took part in a workshop on the importance of careful
internet use. A workshop to show students how their internet
footprints can come back to haunt you when you begin to
apply for university places, apprenticeships or jobs.
Smurfit Kappa
Packaging Workshop
Deborah and Sascha from Smurfit Kappa held a careers
assembly with Year 12 in the lecture theatre about the process
of package design. The workshop concluded with the students
teaming up into groups of three for the fun activity of making
cardboard pigs.
NCS Challenge
NCS (National Citizen Service)
came to launch their 2017
‘Split-up With Your Sofa’
challenge to Year 11 students.
This challenge gives students
the opportunity to live away from home, meet incredible
people and have an amazing experience during the summer.
Northampton Academy are a ‘Champion School’ for the
NCS challenge with 75 applicants - the highest number in
the county.
