Music Ensemble Performances
Year 9
Miss Davenhill’s Year 9 music students hosted a performance evening on Thursday 2nd March which saw groups of students
perform the songs they have been working on in class. Each student who participated received a certificate and awards were
handed out. This was a highly successful evening which allowed the Year 9 students to show off their talent to family and friends.
Year 11
Year 11 GCSE Music students have been working very hard
over the last couple of months on their performance unit of
work. This has seen students performing as a solo act and
also as part of an ensemble. During parts of lesson time, as
well as students own time after school, the Year 11s have
been practising their performances to make sure they are able
to complete their coursework in front of live audiences in a
series of evening concerts. All students did really well and we
are extremely proud of what they have accomplished. The last
performance evening was on Wednesday 8th March and Miss
Davenhill welcomed parents and carers along to support the
fantastic work of the students.
A Christmas Cracker
Academy guests enjoyed an end of year music and drama extravaganza in December, which showed off the talents of students
from all year groups. We were treated to many performances including music solos, songs from the choir, percussion and
woodwind groups and two fabulous dramatic performances: The Snow Queen, adapted by Mrs. Evelyn Merrit from Hans
Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, and 40 Thieves, an original and modern Victorian Pantomime performed by the Sixth Form
drama students.
Rehearsals are now well underway for Sherlock, our next drama production.
