Congratulations to Year 10 students Cameron and Kelly, who have received awards for their community work with the Northamptonshire Emergency Service Cadets.
They began their journey as cadets just 12 months ago, volunteering with the three emergency services at crime prevention events, youth clubs, fundraisers, community engagement and many other events in the community.
Kelly, who volunteered over 150 hours of her time over the last 12 months was awarded Community Cadet of the year.
Cameron was awarded the Unit Cadet of the year, the highest award possible within cadets, and was voted by all staff unanimously via secret ballot.
Camerons mum said, "Being part of the Cadets has given Cameron some amazing opportunities, he is a very different young man compared to 12 months ago. He is much happier, much more confident. Cadets gave him some very positive role models who didn’t give up on him at the first hurdle, and believed in him when many others didn’t."
Northampton Academy is very proud of Cameron and Kelly, they are a true reflection of the school's values of respect, determination, ambition, tolerance and integrity, we wish them every success on the rest of their journey as Cadets and beyond.
