Last week we said our emotional goodbyes to our Year 11 and 13 leavers. After two difficult and disrupted years of coping with the pandemic, these year groups have shown steadfast determination and resilience in how they have worked towards their GCSE and A Level exams. We are proud of each and every one of them. It was a day of mixed emotions; relief at finishing their exams, sadness at closing this chapter of their lives, yet excitement at what's in store for the future.
During the morning, Year 11 had their leavers' assembly. In true Northampton Academy style, they were taken down memory lane with Mr Atkinsons' 'Who has changed the most?' presentation, featuring the embarrassing school photos taken during their years at the Academy. Then followed a surprise video made by the staff as a special goodbye message before a final send-off to the tune 'Sweet Caroline'.
During the afternoon, Year 13 held a gathering, and they were to some music and song performed by students. After a speech from Head Girl, Puneet and Head Boy, James, some students were presented with 'Who is most likely to' and 'Subject student of the year' certificates whilst enjoying a slice of cake.
We wish all students the very best for their future plans, and we look forward to seeing them again on Exam Results day and welcoming some of our Year 11 students back to our academic Sixth Form.
