On Tuesday, 25th of January, a team of Sports Leaders headed over to Benham Sports Arena to lead and officiate in the 'Northampton Town Primary Kurling Tournament. The leaders had undergone hours of training and coaching in preparation for this opportunity and were keen to test their new skills and knowledge. The day was a great success, with the leaders demonstrating their excellent knowledge, communication skills and teamwork to ensure the event ran smoothly and fairly. It was particularly pleasing to receive a glowing email from the tournament organiser regarding the young leaders:
"I have had the pleasure of working with 10 of your Sports Leaders today who were deployed to officiate at the Northampton School Sport Partnership KS1 and KS2 New Age Kurling Competition. They were nothing short of outstanding ambassadors for the school.
As with things currently, we had a few schools drop out last minute or not turn up, but this did not phase them; they simply adapted to the changing fixture schedule and continued to do what was asked of them to an exceptional standard. Their behaviour was impeccable, and the way they liaised and spoke to the primary staff and the competitors, many of whom had special educational needs and/or disabilities, was commendable.
I look forward to being able to work with them again in the very near future."
A huge well done to all the leaders involved for the excellent work and commitment to the wider community. We are very proud of you.
Our leaders who took part were; Matthew B, Shardana M, Rinalds V, Janis R, Katie M, Abbie C, Alexandra O, George M, Callum U and Zenna O.
