The first-ever Northampton Schools Dance Competition, hosted by Northampton Academy was hailed a great success. It was amazing to see so many talented dancers sharing their love and passion for dance together. Northampton Academy welcomed dancers from four local schools, Northampton School for Girls, Northampton School for Boys, Northampton International Academy and Weston Favell Academy.
The friendly competition, organised by Miss Barry featured three categories; Street, Contemporary and Freestyle and was judged by two special guest judges, Ellie from Unit 17 Performing Arts and Dance School and Swifty, a dancer who specialises in breakin’ and street dance.
It was a fantastic evening and our dancers did us proud, with NADT coming 2nd in the Street category and 3rd in the Freestyle.
Dance teacher Miss Barry said:
" The dancers were so supportive of each other's dance routines, which created such a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. It was amazing to see so many different styles, concepts and ideas from all different ages and schools."
Northampton Academy would like to thank and congratulate all the dancers and their teachers who took part and contributed to such a successful evening. Thanks also go to Miss Barry for organising the event, to Mrs Carter-Morris and the Sports Leaders for helping on the night, Mr Hyde for sound and lighting, Dammy and Marie for being our compères for the evening and of course to our two guest judges, Ellie and Swifty.
