After months of planning, building and preparation, this week saw the grand opening of our newly refurbished school library. The library has been moved from the top floor to allow extra space for our growing Sixth Form to a more central location in the school. The new library can be found in G Block and has bi-fold doors into the courtyard, which students can access during opening times.
The inspiring new space is designed to inspire a passion for reading whilst reflecting our character values. To start the day, staff gathered in the Library for Mr Clyne's staff briefing, which is usually done virtually. Then at lunchtime, the library opened its door to students for the first time.
It was a joy seeing so many students coming to the opening, choosing from the many books on offer, enjoying browsing the shelves, or simply sitting and reading. Mrs Sullivan, our Librarian and her Library Assistant, Ms Cechova, have done a fabulous job modelling the library into zones to make finding the right book easier for students. Not forgetting, our fantastic group of Library Leaders have also given up their time to help and did a fantastic job manning the desk and helping students during the launch event.
