On Tuesday, 14th March, 22 students from the Ernst Mach Gymnasium Haar in Germany visited Northampton Academy as part of a German Exchange visit.
The students stayed at a local activity centre and spent two days with us, relishing the chance to encounter a British school and mix with our students.
Firstly, they enjoyed PHSE lessons alongside a group of our students. They did some activities together before taking a guided tour of the school, visiting classes, and even participating in one of our French lessons. Following this, they enjoyed a Music lesson in our Mac suite and, after lunch, a DT Food and Nutrition lesson in which they made scones.
Their second day consisted of a ‘student bingo’ game, allowing them to learn more about each other. Next, they participated in a project that involved working together on issues such as gender equality, climate change, stereotypes, women’s safety, racism, and digital footprints. They then enjoyed a lesson in the Gym and a chance to use our Gym equipment.
In addition to their time in school, the students also took a day trip to London. Despite a long journey due to the London Underground strikes, the students had a great day. They took a flight on the London Eye and enjoyed the fantastic views of London before visiting Westminster, Downing Street, Buckingham Palace and Leicester Square.
