Sixth Form students at Northampton Academy have been busy collecting and sorting donations for Northampton Hope Centre.
Organised by the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team, students and staff across the school have donated warm clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, toiletries and food.
The large donation, which was enough to fill two cars, was delivered to the Hope Centre by some of the students, who were shown around the current building had the opportunity to visit the lively Day Centre.
During the visit, students received a humbling insight into the amazing work that the team of staff and volunteers do, on a day-to-day basis, to give the homeless of Northampton a safe place to go and the vital support they need.
The school will also be donating proceeds from a raffle and cake sale at their recent Christmas performance.
Tom Jones, Head Boy, led the team on this project. Tom is passionate about charity work, having been involved with various charities locally and internationally.
Tom said:
“We wanted to give something to the community and we chose the Hope Centre as it is a local charity which helps people who need it the most.”
“The work they do at The Hope Centre is incredible; it has such a massive impact on the lives of many people. I found it very humbling so see with my own eyes the work they do, especially under the current threat of eviction they are facing.”
