Drama
Do you know what to do when the Elves have the flu? I haven’t a clue, I wish I knew!
And this is no ordinary flu. It’s Elven flu. The Elves can’t eat, they can’t sleep, and they certainly can’t work. And with Christmas around the corner, how will the toys get made? How will this sickie scrape get solved?
Dance
The dance pieces were all choreographed by the students themselves. The students created the idea and concept of their dances, practised for many hours in their own time and auditioned their piece for the show. The styles performed range from a self-taught ballerina to our very own robot, alongside many more, including vibrant Afro-Caribbean vibes.
Music
The musical performances involved a plethora of genres. Some of the highlights included the ‘Jupiter’ movement from Holst’s ‘Planet Suite’, often played at the Proms and more recently, the Rugby World Cup. Orchestra performed, ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ and ‘We’re Walking in the Air’, to get us in the Christmassy mood whilst Big Band demonstrated their skills by playing the well-known standard, ‘Chameleon’, ‘Here Comes Santa Claus’ and James Brown’s ‘I Feel Good’. The Choir sang ‘Stand by Me’ and ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’.
