The Royal Navy outreach team came in to work with our Year 8s. After an interactive presentation showcasing what the Royal Navy does around the globe. The students took part in various team-building activities helping them to gain skills in leadership, communication, and teamwork.
In one task, the students had to build a raft out of planks to help them survive; it had to be a certain height off the ground and had to fit all the students in. The students threw themselves into the challenge, and it was very impressive to see the designs and teamwork that came from the activity.
The second activity the students absolutely loved as they were tasked to design and build paper rockets. The rockets were then taken outside and, using a pressured pump, were blasted into the air. The rocket that went the highest won. Overall, it was a fantastic day for the students, with positive feedback and questions as to when it was going to happen again. We thank the Royal Navy outreach team and look forward to building on our relationship and giving more of our students these types of opportunities.
