The FA Girls’ Football School Partnership

Categories: News, Latest Academy News, Sport

A group of girls recently took part in the Game of Our Own Leadership Programme, which Barclays supported. They have completed the football activator training and are now ready to plan and deliver extra-curricular opportunities to other girls in the school.

The FA Girls’ Football School Partnership - supported by Barclays programme is a nationwide scheme that aims to mainstream football in schools for girls. The initiative will create a network of 300 school partnerships by 2024, each with a dedicated education expert with knowledge and understanding of education and girls’ football in their local area.

The Barclays investment will give girls the best chance to experience football in the PE curriculum, as well as the opportunity to participate, lead and compete – giving them equal access to our much-loved national game as most boys currently enjoy.

YST Tutor & Senior Development Coach Lisa Yates said: “What a fantastic group you have there! They were confident, eloquent and able to reflect really well. As a whole group, they came across very well; you must be very proud of them. Those who said that they weren’t confident at the start warmed up, and everyone had something valuable to contribute.”
