Northants and England Cricketer David Willey visits Academy

Categories: Latest Academy News, Elite Sports, Sport

On Wednesday 6 November, Northants and former England cricketer David Willey visited the Academy as a special guest to deliver a talk to our Elite Sports Students.

There was a great turnout from our cohort, who listened keenly to an insightful and powerful talk from the current Northants captain, who discussed in depth his career so far and the journey he went on to become a top level cricketer.

David was born in Northampton, coming through the ranks with his local Club and has also represented Yorkshire before helping England to win the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Speaking about his visit, David said: "To have the opportunity to come into school and speak to the students is fantastic. I look back to my time at school and to have someone come in and to offer advice is special.

"It was a great honour to speak to the Elite Sports Pathway and hopefully by touching on my experiences can help the kids on their journey and everyday life.

"It's fantastic for the school to have an Elite Sports Pathway and the students are very lucky to be apart of that. The education will serve them very well in later life and it's a great opportunity, and hopefully I've helped add some value."
