Northampton Academy hosted our first Year 6 Open Evening of the year, welcoming over 700 visitors.
We were delighted to welcome so many families to the school; there was a real buzz about the place as families toured around all the different subject areas. A delicious aroma of biscuits came from the DT area as students demonstrated their baking skills, and the music coming from A Block added to the stimulating atmosphere. All subject areas were open, many with interactive activities for the students to participate in, such as a game of 'Countdown' in the Maths department, numerous Science demonstrations, which the students enjoyed taking part in, many PE activities including trampolining, book chat in the Library, bookmark making in DT, Computer Science games and students getting messy making octopi with clay in the Art department to name a few.
Our amazing catering team provided tasty food samples and drinks for our guests in the canteen area, where they were able to chat to our SENCo, Careers, Admissions and Parent Ambassador teams.
Our Principal, Mr Jones, introduced the school during his three informative presentations. He shared how our school lives by its character pillars of virtue, Respect, Determination, Ambition, Tolerance and Integrity and how these are woven into the curriculum and everything we do as a school. He shared our vision, mission, outcomes, pastoral care, as well as our strict behaviour and uniform policies. The full assembly hall then heard from our Head Boy, one of our Year 11 Prefects and two of our Year 7 students about their experiences of the school.
One parent commented: "The principal’s address was very informative. It was also nice to have small groups when going around the school. The refreshments were a nice touch."
Another said: "It was great to see the extracurricular activities and after-school club options."
We look forward to repeating this event on October 12th, and further information is available here: https://www.northampton-academy.org/openevenings
