Northampton Academy was pleased to welcome a number of university representatives to the first of two Sixth Form Induction Days.
At the start of the first day, we welcomed a range of universities and apprenticeship providers, who showcased the ‘higher education’ options available to students following the completion of their Sixth Form studies. An opportunity for students to gain valuable advice and course information.
Our thanks go to the Academy of Contemporary Music, Coventry University, De Montfort University, University of Leicester, University of Liverpool, University of Northampton, Oxford Brookes for sharing the opportunities available to students. Events such as these are vital for students to gain information.
Following this, students attended sample lessons in their subjects of interest, whilst Nucleus VI applicants experienced a medical workshop attended by a GP and a Junior Doctor before their interviews for a place on Nucleus VI Medical Programme.
The second day consisted of more sample lessons followed by an assembly in our Sixth Form expectations were outlined, then short talks from current Year 12 students, giving advice on focus, behaviour, choosing your subjects and how to settle in (for the external students).
Then a BBQ in the sun ended the day where students had the opportunity to socialise and get to know each other.
It was pleasing to welcome so many external students from local schools, as well as our own Year 11.
