This week we welcomed another Therapy Dog, Nellie on her first visit to Northampton Academy to join Lily, who already helps our students.
Nellie is a registered Pets as Therapy (PAT) volunteer dog. Following her training with her dedicated owner, she attended her Pets as Therapy Assessment at a local hospital in Northampton in October 2021. Nellie's assessment was to ensure she would be suitable for the role; that she is well trained, healthy, friendly, calm around new environments and people and willing to be a Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog.
Nellie will be involved in all aspects of school life at Northampton Academy, including being out in the school's communal areas during break and lunchtime. In addition, she will be working with students in Study Support, the Library and comforting children when they need it. She is an excellent asset to both staff and students and is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face.
When she is not volunteering as a Pets as Therapy Dog, Nellie enjoys long countryside walks and weekly agility classes.
