NHS Thank You Letters
English teacher Mr Leafe, whose brother and sister are both NHS doctors, tasked his Year 7 classes to write letters giving thanks to the NHS.
We were so moved by the many thoughtful, mature responses, which were written from the heart, embedding our Academy values, that we thought we'd share some of them.
Mr Leafe said: "The students were challenged to write using the correct layout for a formal letter and to use effective language techniques. My brother and sister are NHS Doctors, so I suggested they address it to the persona ‘Dr. Leafe’. The NHS address on the letters is fictional."
Hannah’s Letter to Mum
Hannah G in Year 7 wrote a letter to her Mum, who is a Pharmacy Technician. She has also written her own original poem called ‘Thank You NHS’!
Principal Mr Parnell said: "I can't deny I had a tear in my eye reading these. The level of empathy, compassion and thoughtfulness shown by our students has brightened my day."
