Lucy Rigby MP, the Labour MP for Northampton North, visited Northampton Academy on Friday 8 November to take in a tour of the school and meet our students and staff.
Voted as MP for Northampton North in July 2024, Ms Rigby also visited the Academy before the election and was met by our Principal Mr Jones and Regional Director Mr Clyne to find out more about our students' progression across all areas so far this year and the work taking place within the Northampton Academy community.
Ms Rigby then met with a cohort of students to discuss politics and to take on board their thoughts and suggestions around the future of young people in the town.
Speaking about the visit, Ms Rigby said: "I have the tremendous privilege of representing people here in Northampton North and it's great to be back visiting Northampton Academy.
"This is an extremely impressive school and one thing that is particularly attractive for both students and parents is the emphasis on character. The academics are obviously very strong and the facilities are brilliant, but that emphasis on character is extremely positive for helping young people develop.
"It's important students enjoy coming into the school environment, and one great thing about walking the corridors is seeing the designs and wraps on the walls in all the different subject areas. It's a really vibrant, colourful and interesting environment that I can imagine pupils really enjoy being in and the whole school has a positive atmosphere."
