As part of National Careers Week and National Apprenticeships Week, Year 10 GCSE Business Studies students welcomed Robert Edwards, Talent Pipeline Development Manager of Kuehne + Nagel and his team, who provided insights into the work of global logistics and a workshop on the importance of making that first positive impression at an interview.
Since 1890, when the business was founded in Bremen, Germany, by August Kuehne and Friedrich Nagel, Kuehne + Nagel has grown into one of the world's leading logistics providers. Today the Group has 1300 offices in over 100 countries, with around 82,000 employees.
Robert presented a workshop to the students, giving an overview of the roles available to young people in this fast-growing sector, sharing insights into the complexities of transporting goods around the world. Transporting anything from marbles to jet engines means that the possibilities for a career in this industry are endless.
Students also received guidance on how to prepare for an interview, ahead of this year’s mock interview event, ‘Maximise Your Potential'.
Following this, students took part in a logistics board game and an opportunity to visit and find out more about the articulated lorry.
Following a successful day, Robert Edwards commented, "Another fantastic event today for National Apprenticeship Week! Today we were with the students and staff at Northampton Academy. We had our biggest audience so far with all of the Business Studies students joining us for an introduction to logistics, an interview skills session and a look round the lorry! Loads of great questions from the students today, really encouraging for logistics."
We would like to thank Robert and his team, Chris Brooks & A.N. Jarvis for an extremely informative careers event.
