Today we welcomed NCS (National Citizen Service) who came launch their 2017 ‘Split-up With Your Sofa’ challenge to Year 11 students. This challenge gives students the opportunity to live away from home, meet incredible people and have an amazing experience during the summer.
What is NCS?
An Experience to Change Your Life!
NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 16-17 year olds to build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. NCS takes place for four weeks during the summer holidays or during the autumn and spring half terms and we have various start dates available depending on where you live.
Phase 1: Adventure
Spend time away from home with a residential stay in the great outdoors, getting to know your team and experience the freedom of being away from home with new friends. You'll get the chance to take on adrenaline fuelled challenges like rock climbing, archery and canoeing.
Phase 2: Skills
Stay in university style* accommodation, learning some huge life skills that make for a great CV and develop new personal skills. You can also find out more about skills you have a passion for such as Photography, Music editing, Sports coaching or even how to set up your own business.
*During the Autumn programmes this is a non-residential phase and does not involve a stay in university style accommodation.
Phases 3: Make A Difference
Get together as a team to put all the skills you've learnt and the experiences you've had into practice with a social action project that will really make a difference in your local community.
Graduation
Celebrate your team’s achievements at a special graduation ceremony and receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister.
Continue the Journey
As a NCS graduate you'll get exclusive access to potential volunteering opportunities, further training, amazing discounts and exclusive events.
