In the lead-up to World Book Day and Shakespeare Day, we celebrated reading and writing in various forms. Our students produced outstanding work in their English lessons, ranging from powerful essays to creative writing and insightful analyses. Students were encouraged to visit the Proud Table on Friday to recognize their incredible efforts and celebrate the power of literature.
On World Book Day, several exciting events took place, including book bingo and a 'Shelfie' competition, where staff took photos of themselves reading. These photos were displayed in the library for students to enjoy. Additionally, we held a literature 'badge hunt' in which staff wore 'book badges' throughout the day, hoping to be spotted by as many students as possible. The staff member who was spotted the most received a prize. Furthermore, the entire school read an extract titled "The Phone Goes Dead" during Dear Time and Tutor Reading. Many staff members joined in the fun by dressing as their favorite book characters, showcasing some fantastic costumes.
