Farewell Year 11 and Year 13

Categories: Latest Academy News

This week we closed our doors for a while to the majority of students and said our fond farewells to our Year 11 and Year 13 students.

Like earlier year groups before them, the Year 11 class of 2020 were sent off in style with a celebration assembly, to mark what may be their last day at Northampton Academy, featuring, of course, some old and embarrassing school photographs on the big screen and shirt signing.

Northampton Academy will be continuing to support all students whilst they continue to work from home through the next few months. Advice and guidance for parents, carers and students are available on the Public Health Advice page of our website. Please check this page for updates regularly.

Teachers have been sending messages to our students:

"We never thought we'd be saying goodbye to our leavers so soon and we're all a little upset about it.  But the whole school rallied round to give them a great send-off.  We will watch them with great pride as they navigate the next stage of their education and lives.  We wish them all a wonderful future." Mr Parnell

"It's been a strange end to the year, and for some of you your time at Northampton academy completely. However, the future is still out there for the taking. I wish all of you the best of luck!" Dr Fishwick

"Year 11, you have had the most difficult end to a school year that we have seen in our lifetimes. I know that you will show great determination to work independently over the coming months, and thus will stand you in great stead for the rest of your lives. Make sure that you do something amazing with this time. Learn a skill, maybe a language, to code or to cook. In 50 years time, you'll be telling your grandchildren about this time. Don't let it pass you by. I will see many of you again soon, but if I don't then I would like to wish you all the best for the future. Be proud of yourself in all that you do." Mr Smith

"To all the students I have been lucky enough to support along their journey at the Academy. I wish you all good luck and success for your future. It's time to spread your wings and fly." Mrs Buckley

"Take care 11D1 – art dudes. You’ve been a great class. I’ll miss you!" Mr Ambrose

"To all of year 13, I am so incredibly proud of everything you have achieved. I have seen you contribute so much through volunteering, your academic work, and with your university applications. You are good people, so go out and make me proud!" Miss Tustin

"Good luck in the future Year 11s, this experience will make you so resilient - remember to keep singing!"  Miss Tustin

"You been a pleasure to guide and teach.  May you go on to be successful in all you do." Mr Coleman

"Hello Year 11, although your time at the Academy has finished early, it will never affect the impact you have had. You are, and always will be, a part of the rich history of this school. We will miss each and every one of you. Personally, I have enjoyed every interaction I have had with your year group. My Year 9 set 3 group, my top set Year 10s: you are unforgettable. All the best for the future. You will smash it! Stay safe." Mr Lyon

"Year 11, thank you so much for welcoming me to Northampton Academy with open arms you are an amazing bunch of people and I am very grateful to have spent this time with you. I'm wishing you the very best in whatever you choose to do next. Good luck." Mrs Staff

"Yr13 Computer Science. Thank you for the hard work that you have put in this year. Never have I met such a committed group of young men working hard to achieve the goals that you have set yourself. Thank you for the laughs in the lesson and the random googles that have occurred. Who knows if we'll ever find out how to make a table longer. Good luck." Mrs Staff

"I've not been at Northampton Academy long but I have been so impressed by the vibrance, determination and character of the Year 11s. I'm proud to have been given the privilege of teaching a small number of you and thank you for making me so welcome. I believe you will go on to do great things and make a difference. Look after each other." Emma Butlin

"Dear Year 11, I taught many of you your first History lesson at Northampton Academy, I still have very fond memories of those lessons. Over the years I have watched you grow into wonderful individuals. I am so proud of you all, I wish you every success on the next part of your journey. Best wishes always." Mrs Ridgard
