A group of sports leaders, who have been part of the County Sports Leadership Academy this year, were tasked with setting up an extracurricular club for a selected cohort of students and running this independently over a half term. The girls chose to create a ‘physical activity club for Year 7 & 8 girls who have been affected by the lockdowns, demonstrating a lack of confidence within PE’. The leaders coordinated every aspect of this club, from student selection/invitation, club publicity and the planning and delivery of six exciting sessions focusing on engagement and fun.
The club finished at May half term and was highly successful, with the group of girls attending every session, developing in confidence, fitness and skill level, but most of all enjoying being physically active. None of the girls who attended had ever been to an extracurricular club before and are now keen to access other opportunities, all down to the work of the leaders.
The leaders did a fantastic job and were exceptional role models throughout, so a huge well done to Zenna, Alexandra and Becky, assisted by Shardana.
