Northampton Academy prospective Medical students enjoyed a virtual meeting with Alumni student Leah Brooks, currently in her third year of medical school at Sheffield University.
Leah shared her journey into medicine, providing students with information, advice, and guidance. She focussed on the importance of speaking to people in the sector, researching pathways and undertaking as much work experience as possible to confirm that medicine is the right pathway for students. After all, it's a six-year commitment!
Further advice on how evaluating university provision also provided valuable insights. During her own application process, Leah took time to consider the location, facilities, and style of teaching at each of her university choices. Undertaking a significant level of research and reflection allows students to make the right choice for themselves.
The Nucleus STEM & Careers Departments would like to thank Leah for her time and commitment to supporting a new generation of aspiring medics.
