During a careers and enterprise workshop with Rubitek Ltd, Year 7 students were tasked with creating, marketing and pitching a profitable penguin business for further investment.
Each group had to come up with a team name, allocate specific job roles and responsibilities, create a logo, slogan and USP for their product and then pitch to the judges.
Teams were given £40 to use for their initial investment and shops were set up for them to negotiate prices and buy resources to make their penguins and sell them on for a profit.
One minute pitches were then prepared by the teams who then presented their business concepts to the Barclaycard investors. Extra funding of up to £100 was awarded to the top pitching teams, to expand their businesses.
The extra funding was then added to the money made in the trading period to see how much overall profit was made. The winning team from each session were presented with a certificate and a chocolate egg.
Joe Twelvetree from Rubitek said, “Spent a very rewarding day with confident, bright and inspiring students, a credit to the school which is clearly leading by example in its approach to enterprise”.
