To celebrate National Careers Week, Year 10 GCSE & A Level Computer Science students met with representatives from Digital Design Service company, Hippo Digital to discuss the breadth of careers available in the emerging digital sector industries.
Brendan Farrer - Business Analyst, Dean Hanley - Principal Consultant/Content Designer, Leah Thompson -User Researcher & Andi Sharkey - Performance Analyst, all gave accounts of their personal career journeys, their current job descriptions and the skills required for their role.
Particular emphasis was placed upon the complexity of the skills required. These included creative thinking, the ability to get to the route of a problem by asking ‘why?’, to challenge preconceived ideas, and to exhibit leadership by managing a variety of stakeholders. Gaining in-depth insights into careers within the digital world and solving current day problems is vital to young people, at a time when they are considering a variety of future options.
Our thanks to the team from Hippo Digital for their time and generosity in sharing these important messages.
